Reminded me of the old world charm missing from hotels in U.S. A bit worn but stately and tastefully done. Charming... Please don't change a thing!
Great location, friendly staff, the spa.
The setting and the grounds are fab. The peace and quiet. The staff and the hotel are lovely. We just loved it and will be back again.
it was just what we needed, we have a young chld and we needed a break, just the two of us and we completely relaxed in the drawing room with a bottle of wine and there was a nice atmosphere!
Relaxed atmosphere with excellent staff and food.
Really disappointed and seriously inconvenienced when arrived for 2pm book in and room not ready until close to 4pm. Had arranged a trip that then had to be cancelled. Told on more than one occasion that room would be ready in about ten minutes.
The staff were very helpful and friendly the food was excellient and the rooms werelovely
There was nothing i didnt like
Faithlegg was nice and near for us-not too long travelling!!! Food was great and staff on check in were lovely. Bar staff lovely!
Our bedroom was freezing!! I had to ring reception twice when we arrived to be told that the heating was on timer and it is not on during the day at all in the hotel. It goes off about 9 in the morning and back on at 5 in the evening!!!fine on a hot day but it was only 1 degree the day we arrived!!!they dropped us up a fan heater which didnt work!!!there was a gail force wind going through the room as there seemed to be a severe lack of insulation around the window and under the door!!! Also there was no safe in the room or minibar/fridge!! The leisure centre was not very higenic as you could walk through it all in your ordinary shoes!!!milk on my tea for breakfast was sour and never replaced!!some staff in the restaurant were not the nicest! We also were never offered any help with our luggage and there was no sight of a concierge at all! I think this hotel shoul really be reviewed again as in my opinion it definitly is not worth 4 stars!!!
interesting old house
Hotel is tired feeling - needs updating. Staff is very badly managed. Dinner was mediocre. Quite disappointing and definitely does not deserve the rating it has - knock it down a star.
Great location for National ploughing championships. It was very relaxing and staff very friendly and helpful
The 2 nights B&B and 1 dinner package was good value for money. The food was good and the waiting staff were attentive at Dinner.
Both mornings we were told to wait for a table for breakfast and they would call us however they forgot both times and we had to chase them for a table.
Lovely location - efficient and calm friendly staff - breakfast and dinner v. good. V.nice dining room and particularly nice lounge. Good space for car parking.
Quiet lounges and sitting rooms to relax, read and have tea and scones in. Super hot tub.
Staff friendlyish but very disorganized, not a place to be in a hurry. Very disappointed with the leisure area. Changing rooms grubby, pool dirty and more a-kin to a football club, no "chill out" areas. And when we went to enquire about a spa treatment it was the pool attendant that we dealt with.
Not over run with children (we were on a break away from ours!)
Location, Cleanliness and fresh air in room . Triona was only person I came across who was competent.
I filled in a comment card. Staff were friendly but they need more training for 4 star hotel- opening wine , presenting food on table- an air of dis organisation especially at breakfast- food arriving by stages- people waiting for plates etc gathering around buffet bar- bowls /plates in wrong order around bar. For dinner in lounge food arrived cold and waited and waited for condiments-never did arrive! Some Staff uniforms dirty and ill -fitting Music same cd over and over for 3 days Made a reservation on Tuesday morning for a table for dinner in Library was assured it would be fine -not reserved that evening!Except for Triona in bar /lounge chaos would have ensued-She was only person who organised anything correctly. Heard staff complaining on several occasions to one another about working in hotel - not very professional! Saw one bar man smirk at another when a guest made a comment about going into garden.
Beautiful surroundings, Good food, friendly service.
The Restaurant at dinner could have made more effort to separate families with children from couples. For the price being charged we would have expected a more romantic atmosphere. The Restaurant at breakfast was like being at Butlins. Crowded, noisy and hectic.
